Directions:
1. Trim off as much fat as possible (cutting out the larger “white” areas). Leaving some additional fat on the pork shoulder will add flavor and can easily removed at the end. 2. Mix all spices. 3. Make slits in the pork and add in the whole garlic to the slits- a few on top, sides and bottom. 4. Rub spice mix over the meat to ensure it is fully seasoned. 5.Place in the crockpot on LOW and add the lime and orange juice round the meat. 6. Place the cover on top and cook on LOW for 8-10

Ingredients:
  • 3.0 lb Pork butt
  • 4.0 cloves garlic
  • 2.0 tsp Cumin
  • 0.5 tsp Cayenne pepper
  • 2.0 tbls Salt
  • 2.0 medium limes (juiced)
  • 2.0 tsp Chili Powder
  • 2.0 tsp black pepper
  • 2.0 tsp dried oregano
  • 1.0 meduim orange (juiced)
  • 0.5 tsp cinnamon
Notes:
Delicious and versatile (very budget friendly, too!), Make Ahead Carnitas will be a hit with your entire family! Once prepped, the meal options are endless... Pair with sweet potatoes and arugula for a healthy dinner, serve over salad with salsa and avocado for lunch, or use up your leftovers with eggs and roasted veggies for a hearty breakfast! NOTE: Pork shoulder can be found at almost any meat counter.
